So far I have completed:
The Royal Marines Commando Tests comprising:-
The Endurance Course is reached after a 4-mile walk from Commando Training Centre Royal Marines (CTCRM). The course consists of a two mile course across rough terrain, which includes a host of obstacles including culverts, deep pools and an underwater tunnel. Followed by a run on tracks and road for 4 miles back to CTCRM. Immediately recruits must then fire their rifles on the 20 metre Range. If they do not score at least six out of ten shots on target they will fail and have to do the whole test again (pass time 72 minutes).
The Tarzan Assault Course is an aerial confidence test, which starts with a commando slide and includes numerous obstacles high up in the trees. The assault course incorporates a dozen or more obstacles ending with a 12ft wall. Both courses must be completed together for the test. The overall finish is reached after climbing to the top of a 30ft wall (pass time 13 minutes).
The 9 Mile Speed March is conducted as a troop over roads and tracks. It consists of a mixture of running and marching. The purpose being to move rapidly as a troop from A to B, arriving as a unit and fit to fight (pass time 90 minutes).
The 30 Miler is the final test across the windswept hills of Dartmoor. The test is conducted in teams who are required to navigate their way across the moor. All must carry full fighting order, safety equipment and weapons (pass time 8 hours).
(In the tests you are carrying your weapon and fighting order weighing 32lbs apart from the 30 miler where you have to carry 45lbs).
